ESOS Progress Update template released – six months before deadline
The Environment Agency has published a new template to help organisations complete their first ESOS Progress Update, which is due by 5th December 2025. All participants, even those who didn’t propose energy-saving measures, are required to submit one.
What is a Progress Update?
These are new to ESOS, and are for you to report on Action Plan implementation. You’ll need to confirm:
- What progress you’ve made on measures identified in your ESOS Action Plan
- If you’ve implemented any new measures
- What energy consumption reductions you have achieved
The new template can help you gather this information so that you are ready to update MESOS once the portal opens (this is expected in mid-June).
There are two reports due:
- Progress Update 1 is due by 5th December 2025.
- Progress Update 2 is due by 5th December 2026.
Act now to avoid enforcement action
The Progress Update deadline is only six months away. Starting now gives you time to implement measures and gather the data, especially if you’re managing multiple sites or need support from others in your business.
