ESOS deadline extended to June 2024
Organisations have been given an extra six months to comply with Phase 3 of the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS), to help them get to grips with new reporting requirements.
In its latest ESOS newsletter, the Environment Agency announced the compliance deadline has been moved from 5 December 2023 to 5 June 2024, in line with requests from stakeholders.
While the compliance date has been extended, the qualification thresholds and date remain unchanged. ESOS still applies to all organisations (and their corporate groups) that were classed as large undertakings on 3 December 2022.
Changes to ESOS Phase 3
The government still intends to implement new requirements for ESOS participants in this current phase. The changes are aimed at making the scheme more robust and driving action on energy efficiency. They include a change to the de minimis exemption, and a requirement to provide more detail on how recommendations will be implemented. You can read more in our simple Guide to ESOS Phase 3.
