The Carbon Trust is launching a new £7m fund to help small UK businesses replace old, energy-intensive equipment in order to boost efficiency and productivity.
The scheme, which is expected to support 1000 to 2000 smaller businesses across Britain, is hoped to enable participating businesses to invest £55m in energy saving projects, delivering them lifetime energy savings of almost £130m, while the programme is set to focus on high quality implementation to “ensure the best energy efficiency opportunities are fully realised.”
Eligible companies will be able to apply for a maximum of £10,000 in capital contributions, which can cover up to 15 per cent of an energy efficiency project or equipment replacement cost, while the fund can also be used to purchase a range of equipment including energy efficient lighting, Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) and energy efficiency controls.
