Carbon consultancy welcomes big business interest in carbon pricing
Research conducted by CDP (formally Carbon Disclosure Project) has found that major corporations are adopting carbon pricing at a faster pace than governments.
The report details how 150 large organisations, including 24 in the UK, are imposing an internal price on CO2 to encourage a reduction in emissions. These firms have identified that carbon pricing is integral to the fight against climate change.
The companies surveyed expressed frustration, however, with the lack of global agreements, calling for clear pricing and internationally-linked carbon markets. At Concept Energy Solutions, a carbon management specialist, we advise more firms to take control of their energy future as an effective carbon-saving measure.
Concept Energy is a carbon reporting expert and Peter Stockwell, one of our directors, says: “While it is disappointing that global governance is not supporting this process, it is very encouraging that so many companies are taking the initiative in moving forward the issue of stimulating carbon management.”
He adds: Working with large organisations who are already focussing on controlling their emissions, through a combination of energy data management and targeted energy surveys we have been making a significant contribution at all levels. Our aim now is to make this experience and expertise available to other organisations – of all sizes, commercial and industrial – that are preparing themselves for energy price rises and changes to environmental legislation.”
