CHP-QA

What we do

The Combined Heat and Power Quality Assurance (CHPQA) programme is a government initiative run on behalf of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS). It provides a method for assessing ‘Good Quality CHP’ schemes of all types and sizes throughout the UK.

While participation in the CHPQA programme is voluntary, successful CHPQA certification grants eligibility to a range of benefits, for example Climate Change Levy exemption, Enhanced Capital Allowances and preferential Business Rates.

CHP schemes must undergo initial scheme registration and thereafter submit annual submissions using prescribed forms detailing the actual performance of the CHP scheme. This requires accurate metering of CHP inputs (fuel) and outputs (heat and electricity) to defined standards. CHPQA certificates are awarded on an annual basis, expiring at the end of December.

Our consultants have experience of CHP schemes at a range of scales and have helped organisations to assess CHP performance and compliance with CHPQA criteria.
