ESOS Action Plan deadline is one month away
Organisations only have until 5th March 2025 to produce and submit their Action Plans, a new requirement under the Energy Saving Opportunities Scheme (ESOS).
Action Plans were introduced to encouraging organisations to act on their audit recommendations. Government guidelines say an Action Plan should include details of:
- what you intend to do to reduce energy consumption
- when you intend to do it
- whether it was recommended through your ESOS assessment
- what energy savings you expect to achieve over the four-year period covered by the action plan
- how you estimated these savings
Organisations must then submit an annual Progress Update against Action Plan commitments, in the two subsequent years.
Action Plans: your options
The Environment Agency has confirmed that Action Plans are mandatory (see our FAQs for more). If you don’t intend on implementing any energy saving measures, you can simply state this – but you must still submit a notification, otherwise you are in breach of the legal requirements. This option may take the pressure off if you are unsure of next steps, but note that the content in your action plan will be published.
At Concept, we see Action Plans as an opportunity for you to reap the commercial benefits of a scheme that can too easily be seen as a compliance burden. To find our how your Action Plan can help you streamline the energy management and compliance process, download our best practice guide.
