Building management services firm highlights lack of energy management tools
Research released this month has revealed that facilities managers feel ‘hindered’ by a lack of energy monitoring tools and are wary of energy reduction targets.
While 90% of respondents to the survey knew their yearly energy costs, only two-thirds were comparing their building’s performance over time. It was also found that monthly consumption data is still the primary data tool available for management of energy use.
The study concluded that many facilities manager professionals are committed to energy reduction, but lack the monitoring tools to establish accurate baselines and track their progress. At Concept Energy, as an energy performance monitoring firm, we encourage businesses to explore the energy management advice and support available.
Concept Energy is an energy surveys expert, and Peter Stockwell, one of our directors, says: “Our experience with energy monitoring and targeting means we know it can be daunting to begin your energy management journey. But a bit of professional guidance can be all you need to help you get started.”
He adds: “Without a tailored energy management programme, businesses are missing out on significant cost-savings – we want to see this change.”
