Last chance to share your views on EPCs
The government is seeking industry views on how well Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) currently perform and how they could be improved.
The Call for Evidence, which closes on 19th October 2018, wants to hear from a range of people including non-domestic building owners/occupiers, and energy efficiency professionals.
The consultation hopes to make EPCs more effective in light of their changing use. EPCs were designed to provide information for the consumer, but increasingly there is more legal and financial weight being placed on an EPC rating – such as the recent MEES legislation which requires non-domestic rented buildings to have a minimum EPC rating of F or G.
The government hopes to better understand how the current EPC system is working, the suitability of the current system for both current and emerging uses, and to gain feedback on suggestions for improvement.
The deadline for responses is 19th October 2018. For more information and to take part, visit the government’s consultation page.
