Applications open for Round 13 of the Heat Network Efficiency Scheme
Round 13 of the Heat Network Efficiency Scheme (HNES) is now open for applications.
If your organisation operates a district or communal heat network in England or Wales, this scheme offers grant support for Optimisation Studies and capital measures, helping you enhance network performance, improve efficiency and deliver better outcomes for customers.
About HNES
The Heat Network Efficiency Scheme is designed to support existing operational heat networks that are not performing as efficiently as they could. Whether the challenge is higher running costs, operational inefficiencies or customer satisfaction, the scheme helps identify and fund improvements that make a measurable difference.
A key focus of HNES is to support customers most affected by rising energy costs, with funding prioritised towards projects that can deliver the greatest benefit where need is highest.
Who can apply for HNES funding?
HNES is open to organisations responsible for operating or managing existing district heat networks or communal heating systems in England and Wales, across the public, private and third sectors.
The scheme is competitive, so priority will be given to projects that will deliver the greatest impact in terms of addressing customer need and delivering efficiency/performance improvements.
Key dates for HNES Round 13
- The final date to request an application space is 25th September 2026.
- Applications close on 9 October 2026.
